WASSEM SARAKBI

About Wassem

Hometown -  Spring, TX
Major - Finance
College - Bauer
High School - Klein High School
Campus Org - Kappa Sigma, UH Honors

Wassem Sarakbi is a lifelong learner, consistently working to constantly improve not only himself, but the organizations he’s apart of. Currently a Junior at the University of Houston; Wassem is a student at the Bauer College of Business and is currently majoring in Finance and minoring in Supply Chain. Wassem's career goal is to one day own his own custom brokerage and freight forwarding company. In efforts to learn as much as he can about accounting, he accepted an offer to be an accounting intern at LGI Homes. During his time at LGI Homes, Wassem managed up to $1,000,000 worth of fixed assets; a task widely deferred to older management. Wassem assisted in transporting, writing off, and recording these assets on the national level; specifically the states of Texas and Florida. In order to further diversify his knowledge, Wassem worked at American Royal Shipping Line for two years; paving the way for him to learn about the numerous exports and import documents and customer management necessary to preform logistical management. As stated, Wassem is a life long learner; to understand how businesses manage themselves, Wassem is currently doing research under Dr. Kristen Cullen-Lester, in which he hopes to eventually start his own management project. Wassem believes that his exposure to several different environments within the field of business world will directly apply to him being able to successfully lead his team and interact with university officials in a friendly and charismatic manner.

Why am I running?
During my time at the University of Houston, I have been exposed to a multitude of students, faculty, and staff. The university has provided me with plenty of opportunities and has exposed me to several environments that have advanced my career goals. However, I am a firm believer in CANI, constant and never-ending improvement. By interacting with the students, faculty, and staff I know that there are a lot of areas that we can improve on. My experience working with professors during my research and working with executives during my time at LGI Homes has allowed me to come up with creative solutions to the university’s problems. It is important that we provide not only the best education that the University of Houston can provide, but also the best experience. I have no doubt in my mind that our team can do exactly that and help better our university.
